The end of November has come and gone, and Christmas is something like 15 days away, any my face has almost recovered from a month without face wash.
Weeks later, the days of hyperactive oil glands are but a glimmer in the eye of my now normal complexion and the blackhead buildup has started to dissipate. At the end of the day (or rather 28) I learned more than a lesson about my complexion.
a. Exfoliation is more important than cleansing. Your skin essentially self cleanses when it excretes oil, but what your skin needs, is a helping hand in removing the dirt and oil and dead skin cells that are literally stuck to your face.
b. Baking Soda is the world’s most frugal face wash. As a physical exfoliant, baking soda raises your skin’s pH, opening pores, and allows your to dig deep into the dank caverns we call pores.
c. Not washing your face can get pretty gross. About 1/3 of the week, I lived in severe discontent.
d. Finding the right way to wash your face is key. A cleansing milk rather than a foaming cleanser makes your face feel clean, not like you’ve undergone mild cosmetic surgery.
e. Sometimes it’s good to try something new. It’s not as scary as you think.
Peace. Love. and Bobby Pins.
